"Thus heaven and earth were completed with all their array. On the seventh day God had completed the work he had been doing. He rested on the seventh day after all the work he had been doing. God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on that day he rested after all his work of creating". (Genesis 2, 1-3).
At the start of this year 2015, the Net for God film is about the Sabbath. This film is different in its format as it is primarily composed of teaching that will give us the opportunity to immerse ourselves into the Word of God. It is given by Father Philippe Mercier, a priest of the diocese of Montpellier in France.
Our societies around the world today are under increasing pressure driven by economic performance, and work takes up most of our time. In many countries work on Sundays is already a reality and other governments wish to authorize it more widely. In this context, it is even more important to return to the foundations that the Bible offers us, especially by rediscovering the importance of the Sabbath as a time to pause, to find God and our neighbour.
'In pausing for the Sabbath, something of the mystery of God is revealed: he is capable of being powerful but is not carried away by his power'(Father Philippe Mercier). This film raises the question: are we still able today to take charge of our work by stopping to taste the fullness of Creation?
Ce film est réalisé par la Communauté du Chemin Neuf via le réseau international de prière « Net for God ».
