Colombia Land of Hope and Peace (Original Version with subtitles)

After more than 50 years of civil war and 8 million victims, Colombians have resolutely embarked on the path of peace. The agreement reached between FARC and the government, the Nobel Peace Prize 2016 awarded to Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos and many concrete actions on the ground are signs that hope is beginning to blossom in this country. We met with participants of the armed conflict, former members of the guerilla or paramilitary militia, victims of the civil war, pastors and priests as well as young people committed to peace and reconciliation. Their testimonies are a call to the world, especially to war-torn countries, to believe that peace is possible, in order to rediscover our common humanity.

This film is produced in connection with the Political Fraternity of the Chemin Neuf, launched during World Youth Day in Poland in July 2016. It is aimed at young people aged between 18 and 35 who have a common passion: commitment to the political and civic life of their country. They meet regularly at weekends and in local fraternities, in order to learn how to act, to discern their commitment, to pray and to share with others. The latest weekend took place in Berlin 3rd – 5th February 2017 on the theme: ‘East / West: rebuilding unity after division’ and gathered 60 young people from 12 countries. You will find a short film on the website www.netforgod.tv in which a young Colombian, Laura, a member of the Political Fraternity, shares why she is committed to peace in her country. We also attach to this letter the ‘Manifesto of the Political Fraternity’ which was proclaimed before 8,000 young people in Łódź, Poland, on July 24, 2016.
