Today, Christianity and the person of Jesus arouse a lot of interest. Two thousand years after his birth, more than two billion people around the world follow him and try to serve him.
He is the foundation of their faith and the Lord in their lives. However, there are many who do not go to church, and ask themselves questions about Jesus. Was he only a man or was he the Son of God? And if he is, shouldn't that affect our daily lives?

This film takes us to Holy Trinity Brompton, an Anglican church in London, UK, to find out more about the beauty of God’s work in the Alpha Course. In fact, since 1977, this Christian community regularly organises the Alpha course that is open to everyone and during which it attempts to answer some of the key questions that are at the heart of the Christian faith in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It’s an opportunity to explore the Christian faith, what life means for those who are far away from the Church, for those who want to know more about Christianity and for new Christians.

This film tells the amazing story of Alpha and shows how fruitful it has been. It’s impressive seeing Christ made present and transforming lives: many people, Christians and non Christians are bowled over by the truth of the Gospel!

From a course originally given to eight people at Holy Trinity Brompton in 1977, Alpha
has spread and now takes place in 169 countries, in 110 languages; over 18 million people have attended this course, organised by 60,000 churches of every possible Christian denomination. A real work of ecumenism! As Nicky Gumbel, an Anglican priest in charge of Alpha worldwide, shares with us: “The message of Alpha is not specific to one denomination in particular, it’s the message of the heart of the New Testament about which all Christians agree; and therefore it’s something which all the different churches can run.”

To conclude, Fr Laurent Fabre, leader of the Chemin Neuf Community, shares with us: “Alpha is a work of Pentecost, it’s an invitation to experience Pentecost, to receive the power of the Spirit”
