Today, 450 years after his death, thousands of men and women around the world, Jesuits, religious congregations and movements follow in the stead of his spiritual experience and make up the Ignatian family.<br \/>These last few months, during the celebrations of the Ignatian Jubilee around the world, the Net for God film team met friends of Ignatius of Loyola in France, in Lourdes, from the 27th July to the 4th August 2006. How does Ignatian spirituality irrigate their lives today? How does it allow them to meet the Lord and to bear witness to Him each day?<br \/>This month, we would like to offer you the possibility of discovering Ignatius and his spirituality through the men and women who live by it today.<\/p>\n<p>The testimonies you will hear illustrate four important points of Ignatian spirituality. Don\u2019t hesitate to take time to present them before watching the film.<\/p>\n<p> \u2022 The discernment of spirits<br \/>Ignatius is a man who really encountered God, who experienced God, the living God! He is someone who discerned the will of God in the prayerful reading of the events of his own life. He knew how important it was to make decisions and act in the here and now.<\/p>\n<p> \u2022 Saving souls<br \/>The burning desire to save souls is at the heart of the vocation of Ignatius, the desire to explain to all men how you can meet God directly, and how this experience reaches out to the point where you meet God in all things!<\/p>\n<p> \u2022 Free to follow the poor and humble Jesus<br \/>There was no other way for Ignatius but to choose to live in poverty and humility following Jesus\u2019 example. Imitating Jesus is not an abstract idea. He chose to remain without ties, willing and free to go where God called him, so that God would be served first in all things.<\/p>\n<p> \u2022 Contemplation in action<br \/>Ignatius of Loyola did not run from the urgent battles that had to be fought in his time, and at the same time he knew how to accept the unexpected from God. He was a contemplative in action, a man who told us that we should seek God in all things, and someone whose deepest desire was to know Christ more and more. <\/p>\n<p>The film ends with the powerful testimony of<br \/>Father Pierre Ceyrac<br \/>an illustrious French Jesuit missionary in India.<\/p>\n<p>Father Ceyrac is also a friend of Ignatius of Loyola. India became his home when he was called by God from France in 1937 to be a Jesuit missionary. Like Mother Teresa, whom he knew, he has widely travelled this country by motorcycle, by car and by train in order to help the poorest people. His work is impressive, and includes spending 15 years in the refugee camps of the Khmer Rouge along the border with Thailand. He built roads, medical and social centres, and children\u2019s homes. Today, over 250 000 orphans are brought up in several centres which bear his name.
