Today, Net for God invites you to discover the grace of the beginning of the Chemin Neuf Community, an international Catholic community with an ecumenical vocation. Present in 27 countries on five continents, it has 1,800 members: couples, and consecrated celibate men and women of all Christian denominations. Passionate about unity, they pray and work with all their strength, with the Holy Spirit, to proclaim “the boundless riches of Christ”
to everyone. Through many missions, thousands of young people, couples and families have seen their lives transformed by Christ!
But what is the source of the miracle of the little Chemin Neuf Community?
If today 1800 members share a community life following Christ, it's because their call is based on the experience of Baptism in the Holy Spirit, received in 1972 by two young French jesuits: Laurent Fabre and Bertrand Lepesant. Indeed, aided by three Americans, a young jesuit and two young Episcopalians from the Charismatic Renewal, they experience close to Lyon, France, a new Pentecost: they are immersed in the love of God the Father.
Returning to Lyon, they share their experience and start a charismatic prayer group: conversions, healings, signs, and miracles, the prayer group didn't stop growing. But was it enough to meet only once a week? Seven of them decide to live in community and share everything, just like in Acts of the Apostles: this was the beginning of the Chemin Neuf community, at 49 Montée du Chemin Neuf in Lyon, on the Fourvière hillside; land already worked by the grace of the blood of martyrs such as St Blandina, St Pothinus, St Irenaeus
and so many others…
As the years pass, under the guidance of the Spirit, through brotherly communion and the employment of numerous charisms, the Community constructs itself and sees a great expansion.
In the film, Father Laurent Fabre, founder and head of the Community, and Sister Jacqueline Coutellier, one of the seven original members of the Community, guide us into this wonderful work of the Holy Spirit!
This film is made by the Chemin Neuf Community for the International Ecumenical Fraternity, 'Net for God'.
