The safeguarding of creation, of the "common home", has been particularly highlighted by Pope Francis through the encyclical Laudato si' and the synod on Amazonia. In Colombia, in the Caquetá region, gateway to the Amazon, we meet farmers, precursors of integral ecology, who run the Vicariate of the South. For 35 years, peasant families have been accompanied by this Church organisation in a process of ecological conversion, which bears many fruits of justice, peace, human and spiritual development.

Intercession du mois

Lord, we thank you for the abundance of life you give through your Creation and for all the fruits of unity and dignity received by living in harmony with it.

Grant that we may behave as custodians of your Creation, and not as consumers of the goods it brings us. Through the experience of the Vicariate of the South, may our Churches commit themselves to promote this vision of an integral ecology, at the service of nature and of people.

Parole du mois

"He makes springs pour water into the ravines; it flows between the mountains

They give water to all the beasts of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst.

The birds of the sky nest by the waters; they sing among the branches, and the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your works;

He waters the mountains from his upper chambers; the land is satisfied by the fruit of his work.

He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for people to cultivate

How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures."

Psalm 104, 10-14, 24
