‘Growth in holiness is a journey in community, side by side with others. We see this in some holy communities’ writes Pope Francis in Gaudete et exsultate. The seven Cistercian monks of Tibhirine, Algeria, murdered in 1996, were beatified in Oran on the 8th December 2018. They show us a path of unity where the community gave itself as a gift.

The film shows the steep path that led these monks to unanimously choose the ultimate gift of themselves. Through services seven times a day and community meetings, the Cistercian communities move towards a deep unity daily. This experience, lived in the monastic life, is an invitation for each of us to respond to the love of God through the gift of our life each day.

This film follows the film ‘Witnesses of the Greatest Love’ dedicated to the 19 martyrs of Algeria, released in December 2018. It was made by Neuf Media and Net for God teams, in collaboration with French Cistercian monasteries.
