An extraordinary meeting took place on 22-25 January 2015 in Rome. It was the first ecumenical conference on consecrated life ever organised by the Vatican, and took place as part of the Year of Consecrated Life announced by Pope Francis, from 30 November 2014 until 2 February 2016.
Religious from many different Churches and ecumenical communities responded to the invitation to attend. Over several days of encounter and dialogue, they discovered together what they have in common: a commitment to follow Christ through a personal and communal calling, the origin of which goes back to the very first centuries of Christianity, when the Church was still undivided.
Even before being Orthodox, Catholic, Reformed or Anglican, they discovered a shared experience of being called to fraternal life, prayer and mission \u00ab because of Christ and the Gospel \u00bb.<\/p>\n
