On April 4, 1968, Martin Luther King was murdered in Memphis at the age of 39. He gave his life for the equality of rights between black and white people through non-violent methods. He was a Baptist Pastor proclaiming the Gospel and seeking to implement it in his life. At the same time he aimed to liberate the oppressed and love his enemy, with the overall aim of solidarity between all peoples… 50 years later, he is more than ever a prophet for our time, an inspiring figure throughout the world, such as in Guadeloupe, where we met people who want to follow his example and commit to living in a peaceful society.<\/p>\n

MONTHLY INTERCESSION:
Lord, thank you for all who work for non-violence in Guadeloupe, the US and elsewhere in the world. We pray for peace in our hearts which are so often in turmoil because of injustices. We ask you for the grace of encounter and dialogue. May your Holy Spirit lead us to a personal and collective commitment to non-violence in our world. May the dream of Martin Luther King become a reality so that we become true brothers and sisters. <\/p>\n
